Vira hyrych
Journalist, producer, Radio Svoboda
Vera Girich, a Ukrainian journalist and Radio Svoboda producer, died on April 28 in a rocket attack on an apartment building in Kyiv. The rocket hit the apartment where the journalist lived.

The aggressor seeks to wipe any mention of his crimes off the face of the earth. That's why they kill all possible witnesses - military, civilians and journalists.

If the Russian missile had not killed Vera Girich, she herself would have told the world how the enemy fired on Kyiv. How the missiles indiscriminately attack the city's civilian infrastructure, destroying peaceful homes, not the mythical "decision-making centers".

Vira would talentedly and sympathetically retell the story of the occupation of Nemishaieve near Bucha. Where her elderly parents, like hundreds of suburban residents, survived the month of occupation without electricity and gas.
With her inherent compassion and love, she would tell the world the stories of ordinary people whom Russia is trying to destroy just because they are Ukrainians.

The killing and shelling of journalists is a gross violation of international law.
The enemy can turn a blind eye to the law, but they will not be able to make the world overlook their crimes. By honoring the memory of those who died for the truth, we will continue telling their immortal stories.
